I've played since it came out, and just don't find it fun. The game itself, while obviously different, requires very little skill compared to PAD, and outside of the game is almost completely lifted from PAD. The multiplayer is a definite step up in terms of enjoyability, but it felt like most people use it to just play the same stages over and over, grinding for materials.
The framework of Monster Strike might seem familiar, because it is. It's the same kind of approach several other freemium puzzlers have taken.Fight your way through waves of enemies, earn money and creatures, fuze creatures to level-up your strongest fighters, recruit other players before a battle, and so on. It's eerily similar at times, right down to the art style.
What really sets it apart is the way in which you use your recruits. Rather than matching gems orsomething similar, you drag a finger across the screen and let go to launch them like hyperactive marbles.Some of the particularly neat mechanics here include shifting weak spots for bosses, and bumping your own allies to fire off big powers.
If you've spent any time with another hit from Japan, Puzzle & Dragons, a lot of this will seem familiar. The same old freemium mechanics are at play here, including energy bars and premium currency, but the over-the-top characters and straightforward gameplay are bound to win over lots of players.
The game would be pretty fun if it didnt crash constantly. Its been brought up alot on their social media accounts by users, and their response has been that they are "working on it" for about two weeks now. I can't even finish a dungeon without it crashing at this point.
Like most well-designed games in this genre, stamina-restoring level-ups come fast and furious in the early hours of Monster Strike, ensuring that the stamina meter won't be a problem for the first few tiers of stages at the very least.
You will eventually reach a point where it becomes a bit of an issue, though. One nice thing the developers have done is that if you're playing co-op, only one player's stamina is reduced, so you can juggle around that burden to get in a fair bit of playtime before you'll need to stop.

Monster Strike also has a point where the difficulty takes a pretty big jump if you don't have a decent party put together, a process that requires a bit of planning and likely some grinding.Overall, though, this is a great take on that spicy combination of burst gameplay and long-term team development that has captured the attention of Japan's players and developers alike. I can't wait to see which high profile Japanese developer takes on this idea next.
